When my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I found myself facing the challenges that required an enormous amount of time and emotional energy to accomplish. Although I lived in another state, I was fortunate in that although we lived in California and my mother passed away in Florida and was interred in New York, I was able to handle the final arrangements myself. I was there to help her every step of the way relieving a huge burden off my family.

I feel that my experience in the corporate world barely prepared me for the stress and heartache I faced with my mother. I feel that the love and respect for my mother made moving and downsizing a much more stressful situation. True, a corporate move involves more than just moving desks and computers, but when downsizing your mother’s lifetime of belongings, an entirely different set of resources is necessary to handle everything effectively.

I witnessed firsthand the struggles Bobbie faced while her mother’s health declined. I felt helpless that I couldn’t be there to comfort both Bobbie and her mother. I could only offer support and reassurance through the telephone.

As a long time business man, I realized that her mother’s care required financial resources. I helped Bobbie find the best value for her mother’s assests that eased some of the financial burden associated with her increased level of medical care.
